Wow! What an amazing story. My 9 year old son read "A Chair in the Air" to my 6 year old son. They both LOVED it. What a beautiful message written in a way for children (as well as adults) to understand. They also loved all the different yoga poses discussed in the book, as both of them do yoga in school. I look forward to reading more books by Alanna Zabel with my kids!Product details

My kids and the special needs children I work with, LOVE IT! Its easy to read and easy to do.
I got this book for my daughter to help her understand some of her high energy moods. I love how it puts complex concepts into a way that young children can understand. She loves the illustrations and following along with the yoga poses.
This was given to us as a gift. At first we were excited to get a book to introduce yoga to our child. But this is not what we are looking for.
The story is kind of heavy-handed and preachy. The kid is written as out of control - then breaks his mom's vase - runs off to the woods where he meets a yogini spirit from a tree (not making this up). This would have been better if the backstory was short and to the point. There is quite a bit put into the sad story rather than into the poses (there are only 8 poses to show your kid). The poses shown are not illustrated very well and have no real flow. The rhymes are forced - and sometimes the words just don't flow.
The biggest complaint we have - our kid did not enjoy this book. However, it has inspired us to find something better for our family.
