Leon, a supporter of the Saiwalo and member of the Continental Army, shall solve the case. During his investigations he meets the enigmatic Tavi. Who is she and why is she so firmly convinced of the guilt of the Saiwalo?

This was my first book from a german novelist and I'm positively surprised. Although the whole setting was new to me (Hamburg in Germany and a world based on Nikola Teslas inventions), I really enjoyed it.Just a short content:
Phoenix-Daughter of Ashes creates a dark, new Europe, where the so called Saiwalo rule the whole continent. They have created some sort of peace, but for the costs of the dreams of mankind. Within this otherly Hamburg Leon has to solve a serial murder case. His main suspect is Tavi, a Soulless. She is not the murderer, but is involved in it. They have to work together in order to find the killer.
My opinion:
Due to the whole new setting I learned a lot about Nikola Tesla and his inventions. Also I liked the way, the author "presented" this world to me. It was dark, it was glamourless, but also very comprehensible.
Both main characters, Tavi and Leon, have lived and are deep enough to always find another ankle within their decisions. It was fun to root with them til the great finale.
The main plot is solved within the first book. But as I already found out, there will be two more. Which is good, because not all question have been answered. For example: I really need to know more about the "experiment".
My Conclusion:
A creative new world with interesting characters are the main plus for Phoenix-Daughter of ashes. A little romance rounds out the story. I'm very curious about the next books.
